Become a Docent

The docent experience is a very satisfying one. Docents learn about elephant seals and other marine life; have an opportunity to talk with visitors from all over the country and the world; and get to meet and enjoy their neighbors who are already docents.Friends of the Elephant Seal docents volunteer four times per month. If you are interested please submit an application. You wil be contacted to provide you with further information and to arrange for an interview.

As a Volunteer you will –

  • Learn the amazing habits of elephant seals,
sea otters, sea lions and harbor seals

  • Have on-site mentor training at the
    Piedras Blancas bluff

  • Meet people from all over the U.S. and
    the world
